Yr 12 Physics review and exam preparation

The aim now is to get ready for the exam.
It is an A Level so you DO need to work hard and revise well.
Mrs Rotherham has given you past papers.
Ensure you go through them before the exam.

The exam is G491 on the 13th of January and is 1 hr long

so you need to
  • Read through Advancing Physics pages 1 to 74 for communication and pages 75 to 122 for materials. Make sure you have understood everything and do as many of the activities as you can and answer all the questions.
  • Learn pages 2 to 35 of the revision book.
  • Prepare any questions for us on your return.
  • Go to the learning platform (https://www.klp.rm.com) / AS Physics / Revision Guide / RevGuide / RGch01 to RGch05
  • Advancing Physics AS / look through chapters 1-5 Imaging - looking inside materials
  • check definitions on A-Z Key terms.
  • Look at revision Checklists
  • Please feel free to come and go through the work at any time.
  • This is early for you to sit an A level exam but you are all capable of doing this. You do need to work hard though
  • Keep an eye on the Blog

Microprocessor and assembly language

This year we are using assembly language instead of BASIC for the older course.
Assembly works more directly with microprocessors so that is why we are using it.

Plan for next few weeks

Just to stress to yr 12 Physics and electronics and year 13 electronics how little time we have left. This makes it very important that you start revision over easter. You should really concentrate on revision at home for these 5 weeks of next half term. Try not to do part time jobs and then you will get an excellent grade.
Also don't forget your resits as we may not have time to go though them.

Electronics AS/A2 work over Easter

Read back over the post dated Sunday, 8 February 2009, so don't say you had no warning, starting with
Check that you are up to date and have completed all the work. If you have been doing this all along you would have completed this by now. I know it is a lot of work but its only 6 weeks before the AS electronics exam starts.

This work will help you revise. You will also need to do your own revision based on your own particular difficulties.
I will complete the teaching on the second week back and then we will go through exam papers.

Deadlines for coursework

We are getting very close to the deadlines for coursework.
The first week back after half term will be the last week we do coursework in class as you need to write it up.
Stick to the mark scheme and follow it as closely as possible.
The mark schemes are also available on the examination boards site in the specification documents or teacher notes if you have lost them.
You need to start writing up over the easter holiday.

Setting year 12 Physics HW

As far as possible I will set Homework in the following manner.
I will post it on this site.
I will mainly refer to these files
These are all pdf files and you can search for the appropiate part eg 30W from the file 6wave behaviour.pdf. (It would be sensible if you could downlaod all these files onto your local computer as well)
I will also add the homework to the learning platform. This should appear when you log on. From my point of view it is here>
